F, 59th AL Inf in Jan - Feb 1864; POW on 25 Mar 1865 near Petersburg, VA; arrived at Point City, VA on 28 Mar 1865, On 12 Jun 1865, took Oath of Allegiance and released at Lookout Point, MD. Dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes and about 5' 8" tall.
  His widow applied for pension from Texas Board of Pension for Civil War service. Record certified 3 April 1915.

  The records show that L. W. Freeman, private and corporal, Co. F, 59th Alabama Infantry, C. S. A., enlisted April 5, 1862, and that he was captured near Petersburg, March 25, 1865, and released June 12, 1865, at Point Lookout, Md., on taking the oath of allegiance to the U. S.

  The said pensioner Mrs. Mary Freeman, died on the 28th day of Sept 1930 in the town of Temple.
  The pensioner died in the home of Mrs. Vera Taylor, who was related to the pensioner as Daughter.
  That the warrant, which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the funeral expense incurred by the said pensioner Mrs Mary Freeman.
  I further certify that the warrant for the current quarter has not been cashed by the pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief.
