Mr. Arrington was about 75 years old and was in his usual good health, so his death came as a shock to those who knew him. He was buried yesterday at Big Spring, this county. A singular coincidence is that two brothers of the deceased also died suddenly. Those who paid are designated as [*PAID] by Linda Ayers. There may have been others there is no record who were also able to avoid what's commonly become known as the "Sheriff's Sale." "On March 1, 1875 the property belonging to the following named persons was to be sold at Public Auction to the highest bidder from the Court House in Wedowee." These persons were listed by "Beat number". They are listed in the order they appeared in the paper and spelled as the paper printed them. In addition to the cost listed below, the following was also noticed in the paper: The Tax Collector's fee is one dollar on each list advertised. Printer's fee is fifty cents on each list having one sub-division; and seventy-five cents on each subsequent sub-division. Widows half price. BEAT 13 Missing SUPPLEMENT ARLINGTON, S. A. It was of S."Aby" Arrington. My mother told me it was her great grandmother. Her grandmother was Ninnia Estelle Arrington, but her married name was Hightower. My grandfather was E. Troy Hightower. I saw that Aby was attached to your profile and thought maybe you'd like to see the picture I have and maybe possibly share some information. I am relatively new to this process. Thank you. - - - Subject: Abby Arrington Date: 12/12/2008 8:03:57 P.M. Pacific Standard Time From: ssskje@@windstream.net To: vcjfreeman@@aol.com Thank you for your reply. I used to live near Roopville with my parents. I grew up there actually. If I can make your search easier let me know. My father knows that area very well if you ever need any information I'm sure he'd be glad to help you. I found a picture of Silas "Aby" , was written on the back. And Martha was in the picture as well. It was in front of the house where my grandfather grew up. Silas, I think, was the father of my grandfather's mother. Her name was Ninnia Estelle Arrington Hightower. She was born in 1878 in Randolph Co. Alabama and she died in 1962 in Carroll County. Her name is listed on some of the Census Reports that I found. She married Robert Willis Hightower. My grandfather was her 8th child. His name was Earnest Troy Hightower. He was born June 22, 1924. My mother is Becky Hightower Griffin. There are alot of Arrington's that still live in Carrollton. Thanks for your help. Your research helped me in mine as well. I found that picture over Thanksgiving. I will try to send it to you. Maybe it is the same person. Merry Christmas, Stephanie Skinner
