He was up to that time a stout strong ma but since then he has been so disabled and afflicted that he is unable by any means to make his living and is compelled to avail himself to the County Pauper Farm for support. Fork, Ordinary * From: Carlton and/or Lana Floyd To: VCJFreeman@@aol.com Subject: Re: cates - Henry/Clayton Co Ga Date: Sat, 16 Apr 2005 11:21:55 -0500 I don't know if this data came from a bible record or not. I do remember Jim Lovvorn of TN had a Cates Bible record, don't remember which one; he is now deceased. However, at one time, the tombstone could be read for William A. and Sally Cates. I have a note that says the photo appears to show birth as -re: William Abraham Cates--Picture of tombstone posted on Marilyn's site, looks like "departed this life March the 28th" so may have been misread in the past-or else tombstone was incorrect and that does happen sometimes. Though still standing, they are almost worn to the point of can't read it anymore. I do have a note that a photo of William's tombstone was online at [Marilyn Cates-her website is on myfamily.com and you need an invitation to search it. ~Her email is CopperDoll1@@webtv.net --10/22/2002]. I don't know if this email is still current or the site still in existence. My husband's grandmother was Eula James Cates, daughter of Greenberry and Martha Cook Cates; Greenberry was the son of Romulus Sanders Cates and Lucinda Reeves Cates, Romulus was the son of William A. and Sarah "Sallie" Berry Cates. Most of the children had dates on their tombstones, some may have come from other sources as obituaries, death certificates, mortality schedules, etc. Lana
