Morrison who had been in bad health for a long time. Her death, which has been expected for some time, occurred at the home of her son, H.T. Morrison, her own home having been burned some weeks ago. "Granny" Morrison as she was familiarly known, will be greatly missed in this community for she was the angel of the sick room here. Her deeds of kindness to the sick and needy are many and will live after her. She was a devoted member of the Baptist church at Corinth. She was about 45 years of age. Her remains were buried in the cemetery at Corinth on Thursday (3 Oct 1907) evening, after impressive services were conducted by Revs. Clay Knight and Will Gaston. While this service was being conducted, Walter KNOPP, a brother-in-law to Mrs. Morrison, lay in a dying condition in the same house from which the remains of the deceased had been taken, and within six or eight hours he was dead. Mr. Knopp was 58 years old and was born and reared in this community. He was a highly respected citizen and industrious farmer and a devoted member of the Primitive Baptist church. He was a hale, stout man when he left his late home in Cullman County last Saturday morning, together with his wife, to visit her sister in her last hours, but he contracted pneumonia while on the train between Cullman and Heflin by raising a window of the coach and sitting in the blast while very warm. The remains were buried at the old family cemetery on the premises where he was born and raised. The burial services were conducted by Rev. W.G. Gaston late Friday (4 Oct 1907) evening at the grave. His wife's devotion to him while sick and her testimony of his life and character was something remarkable and should be a lesson to all who heard it. She was the most heartbroken woman I think I ever saw. She began her return to her fatherless children in Cullman county today. They perhaps will not know of their father's death before her arrival home. S.B. I am descended from James F and Jane's son, Walter. I have seen a transcription of the Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church in Randolph County and James F is not listed. There are 10 unmarked graves there. Walter is buried there so I don't dispute your information. I was just curious as to your source on that. Mary Moore Garcia -------------------- Date: 11/2/02 4:13:15 PM Pacific Standard Time From: Maryedwardgarcia To: VCJFreeman Valerie, I would love to trade information. Walter Knop my gg grandfather is the only one that I have information on. My mother is planning on talking to one of her cousins to see if she can get more information on Walter. I have no idea why he is buried at Pilgrim's Rest as they were living in Cullman County, Alabama at the time. I have no problem believing your Mamoo. Records for Randolph are so sketchy because of the court house fires. Have you connected Elizabeth Knopp Cosper to James in any way? Any information beyond John P? I feel he is connected to Philip Knopp in SC. Let me know if you would like a report on Walter. ----------------------- Subj: Re: Larkin Knop Date: 11/11/02 3:10:17 PM Pacific Standard Time From: Maryedwardgarcia To: VCJFreeman I have 2 unidentified Knop children with my gg grandfather Walter and Walter's son John in 1900 Cullman County, AL. Harvey M born May 1888 in GA and William F born Sept 1889 in AL. I assume they are nephews of Walter's. Do you have any idea? Mary Subj: Re: lots o' Knops Date: 11/12/02 6:15:57 PM Pacific Standard Time From: Maryedwardgarcia To: VCJFreeman Valerie, Harvey M. is listed with Walter's son, John Franklin Knop, and shows him as a son. That is impossible since Harvey b. May 88 and John F was born March 1874. I doubt that John had an illegitimate son when he was 14. Also, shows Harvey born AL but parents birthplace was unknown. William living with Walter is listed as a son also. William was b. Sept 1889 and shows that he was born in AL but that birthplace of father was unknown. However, birthplace of Walter was known and listed as AL. I found an inquiry on genforum and the name was Knopps. I tried contacting her but have had no response. Walter used the Knop spelling but John F. used the Knopp spelling. The name is definitely not common in the South. However, Cullman County where Walter's family finally settled was a German community. I wish us both luck! Mary * Subject: Knop Photo Date: 6/8/04 9:38:42 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: garcia1202 To: vcjfreeman Valerie, It has been a while since we last corresponded. I have just recently received a picture of my gg grandfather, Walter F. Knop, son of James F. Knop. Let me know if you would like for me to email it to you. Mary Finally located the picture. The person who had the picture is not sure which 2 daughters are in the picture. He thinks they are Ophelia and Mary E. Mary Mary Garcia
