Note: Some census records give his name as Noah Shedrick. He was listed as a member of Big Springs Church in the 1886 church minutes membership list. On 5 Oct 1906, Noah sold his 180 acres in Randolph County moved to Etha, Alabama in Northeast Cullman County where he thought he had purchased a farm. Once there, the man from whom he thought he had bought backed out of the deal, so he bought 200 acres in Southwestern Cullman County. His grandchildren; Auby, Ruth and Dewayne, still own part of the land he bought in Cullman County. - Thomas Freeman * 1860 Census - Randolph Co., AL: enumerated as Shederick Davis, age 8, b. Date: 3/27/02 5:54:37 AM Pacific Standard Time From: tthoppy_99@@yahoo.com To: vcjfreeman@@aol.com Dear Ms. Freeman, Hello! My name is Tiffany Hopkins and I am a student at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I am taking a course called Family History Research. I have been researching my family and have recently discovered that Chesley Davis is my GGGgrandfather. I have been searching for any information about him and his wife Elana. I recently saw your query on Ancestry.com and could not believe that he was actually on the web site. I am related to him by Noah, his last son. I have heard a lot of hear-say about Chesley and am not really sure what is fact or fiction. I would really appreciate it if you would email me back with any information about Chesley and his wife. Chesley is a very difficult person to find information about. Any help would be very grateful!! Thank you for your time, Tiffany Hopkins ----------------- Subj: Family History Date: 3/29/02 7:11:26 AM Pacific Standard Time From: tthoppy_99@@yahoo.com To: VCJFreeman@@aol.com Valerie-- Hello again! Thank you so much for replying to my email. My granddaddy Duwayne told me that his brother Auby had a lot of information about the Davis'. I went to Auby to see if he really had any information and he did. The complier of the information was no other than Thomas Freeman in 1993. Apparently we all have the same information. Also, on Ancestry.com I noticed that you said that Chesley might have had a second marriage. Is that true? I have really got my family involved in this "Family History." My granddaddy especially. He called someone....I can not remember who, there's been so many people. Anyway, the lady told my granddaddy that Chesley came over from Ireland into Georgia. She also said that he was 4 foot tall and wore a size 2 shoe. Like I said, who knows what's fact or fiction. However, the 4 foot tall/size 2 shoe I am not so sure about. What about Chesley's parents? Does anyone know who they are? What about Elana's parents? I can not figure out why Chesley had to make this "Family History" so difficult. I went to the Randolph County Courthouse the same day you replied to my email and found out that the courthouse burned. I found a deed about Noah's land (Chesley's last son). Noah sold his land 180 acres for $2000 to JLB (Joseph Littleberry) Green in 1906 and then he moved to Cullman County. I was wondering could JLB Green be kin to Elana Green by some chance? By the way a little information, my parents and grandparents still live on the land where Noah settled in 1906 here in Cullman County. If there is any information that you think I might not have, please let me know. Thank you for your time and let me know if there is anything I do not have.
