Take I-40 to Hwy 99 and turn South. Continue on Hwy 99 into the City of Seminole where it becomes Milt Phillips Avenue. At the stoplight of Milt Phillips and Strother, turn west and go 1 mile. The cemetery is located on the North side of the road, just before you get to Hwy 3 (also known as Boren Blvd.) and is encompassed by a stone wall. Parking is not permitted on the street so you will need to drive into the cemetery. There is plenty of parking inside. This large cemetery is well maintained and includes a small chapel which was built in 1926. The first known burial was that of Glenn Billington in 1906 (Peoples, 1991). Next to the Chapel is a board that contains maps of the cemetery along with an alphabetized book of where each person can be found. There is no legend to this map and I found it rather confusing. Without the assistance of a groundskeeper, it would have been difficult to find who I was looking for. This cemetery was transcribed by Kinneth and Phyllis Peoples in 1991 and a book was published by Royalty Research. It is entitled "Maple Grove Cemetery" and was copyrighted in 1991. A copy of this book can be found in the reference section of the Seminole City Library. The material on these web pages are from my own transcription of the cemetery in 1999. It is not yet completed, but when finished, I will donate a copy of the transcription to the Konawa Genealogical Society, the Maple Grove Cemetery Association, the Seminole City Library, the Oklahoma Historical Society and USGenWeb. Information on these pages may not be used for profit or gain. It is to be used for research purposes only.
