a. Note:   Sydney married May - one of 7 sisters. He built a house on the Needham Road, Harleston called Haroldstone. May's sister Ida was widowed in the first world war and he built a house for her next door called Rudenahalle. Sydney ran G Denny & Sons with his brother. He moved to The Old House in ???? This was a large house in the middle of Harleston and they ran it as a guest house. The people who crewed the R111 Airship in Pulham stayed at the guest house. May developed TB and died. Sydney then married Kathleen. Kathleen had been a guest at the Old House as she was the pharmacist for the local doctor.
  Sydney was an accomplished amateur photographer. He died at The Old House

  The death occureed at the Old House, Harleston, Norfolk on Sunday of Mr Sydney William Denny, managing director of the old-established ironmongery business of George Denny and Sons Ltd., of Market Place, Harleston. He was 74
  At his funeral was sung "The Lord's my Shepherd" (Crimond), "Through all the changing scenes of Life", "Now the labourer's task is o'er" Lesson - Revelations Chapter 21, verse 1.
