IN MEMORY OF MRS. H. H. NIXON
Whose gentle spirit took its flight to the heaven of rest, May 26th, 1908.
Mrs. Nixon, as Miss Elvira H. Elmore, was born in South Carolina, her parents removing to Georgia when she was two years of age. She was married to H. H. Nixon Dec 22, 1851. Shortly after marriage they removed to the home where she resided 'till called home to her heavenly rest.
Six children were born of the union Messrs. Joseph G. and Charlie B. Nixon, Mrs. Dora Burdette, Mrs. Lucy A. Moody, Mrs. Mary E. Addy and Mrs. Alice P. Horton. Mrs. Nixon was a consistent and faithful member of the Methodist church 55 years. What a glorious record as a Christian mother, living a glorious life, leaving a happy example for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Nixon was a geat (sic) sufferer for many years before her demise. She was indeed a patient sufferer trusting implicitly in the promises of her Savior whom she loved so well. Her life before her family and neighbors was indeed a realization of the truths of the gospel, "that it is not all of life to live, nor all of death to die,' "precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Her life before each one of us should indeed prove a benediction to each one of us, and we should so live daily that when we are called from the stage of action that we too, like her, can welcome death, as a relief, willing to be absent from the flesh that we may be "present with our Lord."
The aged and infirm husband we commend the divine help and influences of the Divine Spirit, who is our comforter, sent of God to His chosen saints while they sojourn on earth. To her children we commend the life of your sainted mother as an example worthy for your imitation, if each of you would see mother in the spirit land. To brothers, sisters, and friends let us not be disconsolate at the sad dispensation of our Father's will. It is His good pleasure to give us a resting place in the arms of Jesus. Let each of us therefore strive to enter into the straight gate that leads to eternal life. A few more days with some of us and we too will be called to lay down this life. Glorious thought, happy ought we to be that when death comes we simply "fall on sleep" to awake on the happy golden shore, to the happy realization of precious rest beyond the confines of the grave. The prayers of the writer go up to a throne of grace in behalf of the aged and infirm husband, loving children and grand children, relatives and friends, that we may hold out faithful, serving God daily, living daily in expectation of a home in the "sweet bye and bye" when our labors on earth are ended. To her beloved church membership we join you in mourning this great loss.

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. Harrison Nixon, whose beloved companion passed away a few days ago. We well remember the kindnesses shown us in the years agone by this devoted couple, now separated by the cold stream of death. May our stricken brother find a happy reunion with his loved one in that last day when "the just shall be made perfect."
