Mrs. Caroline Nixon Passes Away At Home In Senoia
Bringing to a close a saga of usefulness and influence for good in the community, Mrs. Caroline Peek Nixon died at her home near Senoia early Friday morning, August 17th. She was 93 years of age.
Born April 11, 1852, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Peek***, of Coweta county. She married Joseph Nixon, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harrison H. Nixon, also of Coweta, on December 29, 1874. Mr. Nixon died August 4th, also at the age of 93 [s/b 92, he was just a few weeks short of 93], and she followed him in death 13 days later.
She is survived by four children, Mrs. C. A. Neill, of Ragland, Ala., Mrs. Nannie Harrison, of Atlanta, Marvin Nixon of Decatur, and Mrs. M. S. Thompson of East Point; one sister Miss Della Peek, of Turin; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Bethel Methodist Church, with the Rev. Howard Moody and the Rev. M. F. Roberts officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
***This is wrong - she is the daughter of Edward H. Peek & Nancy H. Peek - they were 1st cousins.
