Notes
a. Note:   t across the Ohio River from Holmesburg where he and Emily married in 1839. Between 1840 and 1843 the family moved to St. Louis, and, by 1844, they moved on to Troy, Lincoln County, Missouri (about 40 miles northwest of St. Louis). On the 1850 census Jesse was listed in Lincoln County as a chair maker with $500 worth of real estate. Between 1856 and 1860, the family moved back to St. Louis, where Jesse was listed on the 1860 census as a carpenter with $2000 worth of real estate and $250 of personal property.
Jesse died in St. Louis in 1864. His burial certificate for Bellefontaine Cemetery gives the following information: Jessie J. Pritchard, died April 1st 1864, place of birth: New Jersey, married, residence: Prairie Place, resident of St. Louis for 7 years, age 51, disease: “insanity,” signed by James C. Logan, M.D. At his death, Jesse owned the following real estate: the NE ¼ of the NW¼, Section 32, Township 49, Range one East, containing forty acres in Lincoln County, except 10 acres off the west side (this lot was appraised for $50, but only brought $37.50 at auction); and Lot 2, NW ¼, Section five, Tp., 47, Range one East in St. Charles County. There was not enough money in Jesse's estate to pay for the funeral, debts, and administration expenses, so the land was sold. Back taxes were owed on the Lincoln County property for 1858-1866. The lot in St. Charles County was sold to Emily L. Pritchett for $200 in a private sale in December 1866. The final settlement of the estate in December 1867, showed a balance of $16.62.
Emily and family have not been located on the 1870 census. In 1880, Emily and sons were living at 1306 Franklin Avenue in St. Louis. By 1890, Emily was living with her son Addison at 2119 Arsenal Street. Emily's burial certificate contains the following information: Emily L. Pritchett, age 77 years 5 months, place of birth: Pen, lived in St. Louis for 51 years, died at 2119 Arsenal St. on April 28th 1892 of Pneumonia
Jesse and Emily had 10 children, five of whom died very young and one daughter who died at age 22. Surviving children were David who moved to Arizona about 1884-9 and had several children; Mary Jane who married F. William Torwegge and lived in Carondelet, one adopted daughter; Charles who married and moved to Denver before 1900, 5 children in 1900, all deceased; and Addison who stayed in St. Louis and had 2 daughters.
Note:   Jesse was probably born in Burlington County, New Jersey, which is righ
