Note: <b>Mary Alice Gildehaus </b> MURPHYSBORO -- Mary Alice Gildehaus, 90, of Kirkwood, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at home. She was born May 31, 1914, in St. Louis, to Robert A. and Mabel (Pritchett) Grant. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and her master’s degree in business education from Columbia University. She taught at Stephens College, Lindenwood College, Webster Groves and University City high schools, and Meramec Community College. She married Richard Gildehaus III on Oct. 11, 1940, and he preceded her in death. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard IV and Valerie Gildehaus of Murphysboro, and two grandchildren, Grant Gildehaus of Portsmouth, N.H., and Elizabeth Gildehaus of Murphysboro. A memorial service was held March 5 in First Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood, followed by burial at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis.
