Leonard; St. Louis, The St. Louis Republic, 1906; page 611] Obituary 4-24-25 Otto J. Wilhelmi, Architect, Dies at 71 Designer Was Also Vice President of Mutual Life Insurance Company. Funeral services for Otto J. Wilhelmi, ??, architect, who died yesterday at his residence following a heart attack, will be held from the residence, 3636? Cleveland avenue, tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. Wilhelmi was born in Gray Summitt, Mo., August 20, 1854, coming to St. Louis with his parents at an early age. He was educated in St. Louis public schools and later attended Washington University. He completed his architectural studies in France, Germany and Italy. He married Emily Stifel in 1882 on his return from abroad. Wilhelmi was architect for the St. Louis public schools from 1882 to ????. Besides designing a number of schools, he designed the Siegel Monument in Forest Park. Wilhelmi was selected one of the committee of architects that designed the Missouri State Monument in the National Military Park at Vicksburg, Mississippi. For the past twenty years he was secretary for the Missouri Crematory, and for the past four years vice president of the Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was affiliated with several clubs and was a Mason. Wilhelmi is survived by his widow, Mrs. Emily Wilhelmi; two sons, Dr. Otto Wilhelmi of St. Louis, and Curt Wilhelmi of Dallas, Tex.; three daughters, Miss Paula Wilhelmi, Mrs. T. C. Hepelmenn, both of this city, and Mrs. R. Gildehaus of Dallas, Tex. The body will be cremated following the funeral services at the Missouri Crematory
