Note: 43 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. He was married to the former Ruth Sloan on June 9, 1945, at the Long Branch Baptist Church, where he was a member. He retired as a farmer and as a coal miner for Sahara Coal Co. Mr. Girot was a member of the Board of Directors of the Community National Bank of Galatia and Raleigh Masonic Lodge No. 128. He was born on Jan. 19, 1927, in Muddy to the late Guiseppi (Joe) and Jesse Leitch Girot. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ruth Girot; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Nancy Girot of Galatia; two sisters, Marie Disney of Muddy and Maxine Penrod of Metropolis; three grandchildren, Julie Bell, Joe Girot and Jill Girot, all of Galatia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard (Dick) Girot. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday. Richard Disney will officiate. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery. Memorials contributions may be made to the Durham Cemetery Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
