 Description: Mrs. Fern E. Dahlstrom
MISSOULA, MT - Fern Evelyn (Wagoner) Dahlstrom, 80, a long-time resident of this city, passed calmly in her sleep, Friday, January 30, 2004. Born March 27, 1923 in Saco, Montana, she was the youngest daughter of Leo Albert and Valeria J. (Bemis) Wagoner. Her parents moved to Missoula in 1925 when her father took a job as a printer and typesetter with the Missoulian Publishing Company.
Fern was united in marriage to her grade school sweetheart, Stanley Graham Dahlstrom on May 27, 1945 in Missoula. Although she attended college, WWII shortened her education. They were parents of two children, Steven L. Dahlstrom, Spokane, WA, and Linnea R. Nelson, Missoula.
Mrs. Dahlstrom was a loving, caring wife and mother. She made custom draperies for many of the finest homes in the area. She enjoyed reading and loved to solve the daily crossword puzzle. Throughout her life, she was active in many causes, including the VFW Auxiliary, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She and her husband received Scoutings highest adult honors, the Golden Fawn and the Golden Beaver. The following portrays their lives, "Happiest are the people who give most happiness to others."
She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister Ruth Alicia (Wagoner) Waldbillig, August 31, 1987 and her husband Stanley on October 12, 1988. Her children and one granddaughter, Britta Dahlstrom of Spokane, survive her.
The family will celebrate her life in a private memorial at a later date. Her final rest will be next to her parents in the Missoula Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missoula Manor Homes Assistance Endowment, 909 W. Central Avenue, Missoula, MT 59801.
