Note: Joyce Ann was always a very popular person in school, with both the boys and the girls. At Plainfield High, she became a cheerleader and developed a circle of close friends. Brother George was utilized as designated chauffer for the group and he enjoyed the ancillary benefits. Frequently, a cheerleader was on his arm, at dances. Early on, Joyce was noticed by Roy Snyder, a football halfback for Plainfield High, and he soon monopolized her time. Corsages for dances were easy to come by, for the Snyder family owned a flower shop, on Park Avenue, in Plainfield. The bond formed in highschool, between Roy and Joyce, proved to be for a lifetime. The wedding was over and the home reception begun, when George arrived from Norfolk, to be at their wedding. Roy worked in his father's greenhouse, growing orchids, for many years, then moved the family to Pennsylvania. One of his favoite chores was setting up displays at the Philadelphia Flower Show. After retirement, in Jamesburg, N.J., Roy died, and Joyce followed, in 1999, shortly after her own retirement. The couple is buried in the Presbyterian Churchyard, Cranbury, N.J., along with over 80 Revolutionary War veterans.
