Note: John George Stitcher, son of John the cabinetmaker, was born in Baltimore on October 6, 1825. On May 22, 1849, he married Elizabeth Wilson, who was born on July 26, 1827. This per the "Baltimore Sun" Marriage Index, 1837-1850. In 1850, his occupation on the Census was termed "huckster". John George and Elizabeth lost three daughters: Ann Elizabeth, Jenny and Ellen. A son, John George Jr., survived until 1934. He is buried in James Edward Stitcher's plot, Western Cemetery, Baltimore. Also in James' plot are: James F. Stitcher, wife, Mary E., daughter Lilly, and Emily Jane, who died on the same day as her father. Unidentified individuals buried were: Bertie Stitcher and Blanche J. Wright. In 1858, John George and his brother, Peter Henry Clay, lived at 113 Preston, Balt. J.G. was a machinist, P.H. a tobacconist. In 1883, Charles M. Stitcher, cigarmaker, lived at 294 Franklin. James Stitcher, painter, lived at 302 Franklin, per the City Directory. James was possibly a descendent of John Stitcher, cabinetmaker. Buried in John George's Western Cemetery plot are: John George, Charles Franklin, Ellen Jane, mother, Ann E., daughter, and Elizabeth, wife.
