a. Note:   George Washington married Lucy Ann Carter, daughter of Peter Carter of Monroe County. After the marriage George and Lucy Ann settled on a tract of 240 acres in Section 27, Jackson Township, Monroe County. George developed the land into a productive farm.
  George Washington Sr. was captain of the militia under Governor Edwards for four years during the War Between the States. George and Lucy Ann are buried in the Antioch Church Cemetery in Monroe Co., Missouri.
