Note: Bob Denton grew up in Alpena, MI, where he starred as a high school football player. He went to the University of Detroit and played on its football team, as well. He met and married Polly Van Antwerp, who was attending Marygrove College in Detroit.
He began work at GM Diesel and, when WWII broke out, the government used his skills on diesel projects in the Aleutian Islands, off Alaska. He then returned to Detroit where he became Sales Mgr. of Northwest Chevrolet, one of the largest Chevrolet dealerships in America. Meanwhile, he & Polly started on their eight children.
He started his own business of jet-infusion of gasoline, but it did not do well. He then acquired a Cadillac car dealership in Kingston, NY. He sold it and they moved to Ohio, where he bought an Cadillac dealership. Then, Detroit, where he had a Buick dealership. Then, Utica, MI, an Oldsmobile-GMC dealership.
Polly died and he married his sister-in-law, Dacia VA, whose husband, Reggie, had died. They lived in Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham & then Alpena, MI. Bob is deeply religious and has been involved in parish work many years.
