  Nunda Herald Thursday September 10, 1896 p. 1 We are sorry to be called upon to record the sudden death of Abram Van Allen, at his home Sept. 5. He was an old and respected citizen, a good neighbor and one of McHenry county's early settlers, having come to this county in 1845 with his wife (who survives him) from Mohawk, Herkimer county, N.Y., where he was born April 13, 1818. He was well known throughout McHenry and Lake counties and leaves a host of friends besides a widow, three daughters and two sons to mourn his death.
