Notes
a. Note:   Marie Louise Whitaker says Samuel VanBenschooten married his daughter to Edward Schreiner because he was a "promoter" and VanBenschooten thought he would be a money maker. I think the Schreiner family was involved in a Bank in Brooklyn. She says that Schreiner started a "playland" or Amusement Park on the Hudson which went broke and that his wife then "had to go to live with her daughter ( Emily Schreiner Boyden ) because he couldn't support her." He either funded or was the developer of the play land. This is the first I have heard of this (May 1, 1997). The VanBenschoten Geneology says he was a "Produce Broker". He and his Wife, lived in Brooklyn, N. Y.
I have attempted to find more about the Schreiner history but so far have been unsucessful. I will have to go to Brooklyn. I think Edward had a brother who was in a bank, might have been named Norman. I think this brother paid for my grandfather's schooling.
