a. Note:   Benjamin Jenkins was a member of the 2nd Provincial Congress of S.C. (1775-76) from St. John's Parish and Justice of the Peace for Charleston District at the same time. (14) (Jour. of Gen. Assembly. 1776
 p. 16 & SCH Mag. Vol vii p 106) (3) He was a Commissioner for building Trinity Episcopal Church on Edisto.
 Benjamin bought a plantation of 106 acres on Edisto Island Dec. 19, 1759 which had been granted to Joseph Russell about 1716. On Dec 20, 1771 Benjamin purchased from Thomas Tucker, a 496 acre plantation called the "Rocks" located where the town of Rockville now is. The land included a
 small 18 acre island which had been granted to Paul Hamilton in 1736 and abutted the property of Samuel Winborn, deceased, on the north, Bohicket Creek on the west, land of Thomas Tucker on the south and lands of David Ferguson and Robert Sams, deceased, on the east. It was conveyed to Thomas Tucker in Apr. 21, 1770 by Robert Sams. Benjamin left the land to his sons, Benjamin and Samuel. He also left them two lots in Charleston, one on South Bay St. and the on Jenkins Alley now called Longitude Lane,
 Benjamin inherited the lot on Jenkins Alley from his mother, Eizabeth (Capers) Adams Jenkins.
