Note: N3933 Obituary: Veteran Civil War buried at Little Eagle, Lewis Vance, aged 90, died athis daughter's home in Washington - Formerly lived at Eagletown. LewisVance, a former resident of the Little Eagle Creek neighborhood,southwest of Eagletown, died at the home of his daughter, Amelia A Yoderin Washington D.C. Aug 8. He was the father of four children as follows:U.S. Vance of Lawrence, Kansas; Della McQueen of Battle Creek, Michigan,Mrs Emma Virgin of Tuttle, North Dakota; and Amelia Yoder of WashingtonD.C. The body was brought to the Little Eagle cemetery, Sunday afternoon,and buried, all of the children attending the funeral rites. His wife wasthe sister of George Gardner. In Aug 1867 he married Elizabeth J Gardnerand to this union were born four children . . . . He enlisted . . . . atNoblesville, Indiana in 1862 . . Soon after his marriage he moved toBenton County, Indiana which was the family home for many years. But asthe children grew up, Mr and Mrs Vance retired to Dayton, Ohio, where MrsVance died Jan 7, 1907.
