a. Note:   Sometime after 1810, he migrated from No. Carolina (this part of North Carolina was ceded to the Federal Government on February 25, 1790,
 and the territory became the state of Tennessee on June 1, 1796) to
 Kentucky, settling near Bowling Green. In 1821, the family migrated
 to Illinois and first settled in Pope County. He later purchased land
 in Simpson Township where he resided until his death. His wife, Nellie
 survived him and lived in Johnson County, Illinois with her son,
 Ishmael, until her death.
