a. Note:   When the family migrated west to Colorado, William started working in the mines at an early age. Family pictures show him in the "bucket"
 at 12 years old, ready to decend into the mine shaft. William
 developed and owned a number of gold, silver and tungsten mines in
 Colorado and Nevada, which lay idle after his death in 1935. In 1943,
 during World War II, it was impossible to obtain help to work the
 mines and rather than continue to pay taxes on the properties, his
 widow, Maude, signed the remaining claims over to an agent to be sold.
 Some went for little more than the taxes due but the "Snowbound" and
 the "Silvia" were sold to the owners of the "Slide" mine for $5000.00
 each.
  William and his brother George were identical twins.They are buried in
 the Harris family plot at the Columbia Cemetery, Boulder, Colorado
