Note: John Hogoboom was the author of a book "The Long Line Kansas Skinner" about the teams of horses that were used in the early oil boom days in Butler, Co., KS.

John Hogoboom died of West Nile virus. The only case ever in Kansas. He was rarely, if ever, sick, and once told that he had never seen a doctor in his life.
