a. Note:   s was so impressed with his new country that he convinced the other members of the family to come to Canada. Times were really good before 1921. Grain and livestock prices were high. He told them unlimited forturne could be made in Canada and it was as easy as picking money off trees. These good times soon ended. In 1921 prices dropped drastically.
  On March 11, 1920 Jules, his bride, and 23 relatives crossed the Atlantic on "the Scotia". After 20 days of rough sailing they landed in St. Johns, New Brunswick. They boarded a train for Winnipeg, and continued on to Holland where they were met by Jules' brother Alfred.
  Jules and his family left Bruxelles in 1929 and settled near St. Alphonse.
Note:   Jules came to Canada in 1909, and returned to Belgium to marry Prudence in January 1920. Jule
