 This is a picture of my great great grandfather Sieger van der Laan and his children. My great grandfather, Bouwe van der Laan, was the oldest son and he is the second from the right in the back row. This whole family, with the exception of Bouwe, moved to Michigan in the late 1800's. Many of their descendants can be found there today. This picture was taken in Heerenveen Friesland, around 1890, shortly before the move. From left to right, Djimmer, Klaas (purchased a large farm in Bison, South Dakota. Froze to death after an accident in the field, shortly after World War 2), Franke, Sieger (my great great grandfather), Lubbert, Martha de Vries (my great great grandmother), Ferdinand, Bouwe and Bartele. -----------------------------------------
