  Major of militia of three counties: Monroe, Luzerne and Lycoming. He was the owner of an anthracite coal mine in Luzerne County. Vandermark Place, Wanamie PA, was named after him. Headstone: "Benjamin Vandermark is my name, Holland was my nation, America was my dwelling place, And Christ is my salvation. When I am deadand in my grave, And all my bones are rotten, When this you see remember me, Lest I should be forgotten." Margaret Sims wife of Benjamin was the dau. of Daniel and ? [Worms] Sims. Benjamin was a Major of Militia of three counties: Luzerne, Monroe, and Lycoming. He was the owner of an anthracite coal mine in Luzerne cty. Vandermark Place in Wanamie, PA was named after him. Benjamin and Margaret are buried in Newport Cemetery, Newport Twp., Luzerene Cty, PA. These dates are from there tombstones, which bears the following epitaphs:
