Note: It appears the Declaration of Intention was filed on June 1, 1912 The Declaration of Intention says: Andro Kacsmarik, aged 31, occupation tinner, color white, complexion dark, height 5'8", 153 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, scar on left arm born in Barca Hungary, now residing at 319 Brown St. McKeesport, PA, emigrated from Fiume on the vessel Carpathia. His last foreign residence was Lengyel Falva Hungary. Arrived at the port of New York the 10th of January 1907. According to the Petition for Naturalization: He was living at 2429 Latrobe Street in McKeesport, PA Working as a tinner emigrated from Fiume on or about the 22nd of Dec 1907 into the port of New York on the 10th day of January 1907 (they obviously got the year wrong) on the vessel named Carpathia. On the 6th of April 1914 he declared his intention to bedome a citizen of the United States. The 1920 Census of Lincoln Township, Allegheny Co, on Jan 6th in Liberty Borough District 24 ED 170 Sheet 3 says he came to the US in 1907, Naturalized in 1918. (His naturalization papers are stamped Dec 12, 1917) Andrew, owned his home at 2429 Latrobe St. and it was paid in full. His age was 37 and he was a laborer in the tin mill. Elizabeth, wife, 37, came to US in 1913 Elizabeth, age 17, laborer in tin mill Mary, age 13 Andrew 4 Andrew's death certificate uses the spelling Kasmarik, living at 2426 Latrobe Street in Liberty Boro. Mary L. Metzler, living with him, says he was born in Czechoslavakia on Aug 15, 1881, last birthday he was 84. Mother's name was Elizabeth Karap, father was Andrew Kasmarik. He died from a fracture of the skull, cerebral edema, urinary infection, fall down the stairs on Sept 26th. Says place of injury was St. Nicholas Church (though I think Aunt Margie said it was at his home). Buried at St. Nicholas Cemetery in North Versailles on November 10, 1965. From surname book under Kasmarik: Kretschman-German inkeeper, from MHG Kretscham inn. The word is of Slav origin (cf. Cech Kroma inn, drcmar inkeeper; Pol ka(r)czma, ka(r)czmarz Dims.: Pol.: Ka(r)czmarek. Kaszmarek is also the name of a place in the Kujawy district near Sandomeirz. (or Sandomurz-can't read spelling) Krcmarik & Kracmarik are Czech Kaczmarek is Polish and means son of the bartender
