She worked for Northern Regional Research Lab for 14 years. She lived in a little house on the highway near Dunlap, Illinois while she worked there. When she retired she moved to Toulon. She loved to bowl, collect owls and all kinds of Avon perfume bottles.
When her Great Grandson Travis Hendricks was small she was babysitting him and his brother Nick. Travis had a sore throat and she wanted to put Vicks on it. Only thing is she wanted to put it down his throat instead of on the outside. She made Nick hold him down while she did it.

Newspaper Obituary Read: MILDRED VAN DRAN
Toulon-Mildred Van Dran, 83, of 214 E Turner died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (Dec . 23, 1990) at Kewanee Hospital.
Born June 10, 1907, in Kewanee to Eugene and Jennie Templeton Rowe, she married John C. Van Dran June 8, 1920, in Toulon. He died in 1960. One granddaughter, three brothers, and six sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Frail of Toulon and Mrs. Jean Blakey of Coloney, Texas; one son, Russell of Toulon; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond Rowe of
Galesburg and George Rowe of Marshalltown, Iowa.
She was a technician at Northern Regional Research Lab for 14 years and was an active bowler in Toulon Ladies League.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thuresday at Kidd Funeral Home, Toulon. Elder Merwin "Doc" Blakey will officiate and Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery. Visitationwill be 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
