Note: Harold spent his childhood in Union and Putnam County Ohio. He was a graduate of Vaughsville High School. As a young man he farmed among other endeavors such as Lumberjack, Streetcar Operator this job came to an abrupt end as he was seeing how fast he could race and the came flying off the tracks into a field. One his grandchildren's favorite stories was his racing his old Ford and the steering wheel came off in his hands. Believe he missed his calling should have been a race car driver. He was also notorious for taking his grandchildren out in the country and allowing them to drive long before they were of age. Herbert Hoover was President when Harold and Gay got married and also the beginning of the great depression. Jobs were hard to come by so Harold came to Defiance, Ohio in search of work and went to work for the Defiance Dairy Products, name changing to Defiance Milk Products and is now known as Diehl Inc. He worked there for more then forty years and was Plant Manager upon his retirement. After retirement he spent his time woodworking, making doll houses for grand daughters and barns for grandsons. Harold was a Republican in Politics and Gay was a Democrat there was some mighty interesting discussions in there home I don't believe they were fireside chats. Harold was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Gay was also a member of the Eastern Star. They belonged to the Trinity United Methodist Church. He died 9 Dec. 1991 and is buried in the Brunersburg Cemetery.
