a. Note:   ), b. 7 June 1913, in Union County Ohio; married Audrey Belle Grunden, 8 Nov. 1934 in Delphos,Ohio. Audrey was b. 14 May 1917 in Spencerville, Ohio, she was the daughter of William M. and Mildred (Bowers) Grunden. There were five children born to this union. All living at this date Aug. 12, 1991, but one sister, died during the flu epidemic in 1915. Audrey attended several one room schools in Allen County Ohio, walking as much as two miles one way, in all kinds of weather. There was no school bus and only one family car. The car was used by her father for work. So all the kids in the district had to walk. The last school was Delphos Jefferson School. Audrey was a busy wife and mother, her hobbies are china, glass painting, crocheting and most fancy work.
 Lawrence spent most of his childhood in Putnam County were he attended school in Rimer. He rode to school in a school wagon, pulled by a team of horses. In the winter if the snow was to deep they used a bobsled with horses. His Dad and brother Harold drove the school wagon. his mother would put rocks the size of your head in the oven to heat, they would then use these to keep their feet warm as they went to school. Lawrence also drove a school bus in 1945.
 Lawrence worked out when still home, would make fifty cents for twelve to fourteen hours a day. He would keep Grandma Brant's washing machine (gasoline) going on wash days and she would give him five to ten cents for his labor. He also helped his mother with her washer and gasoline motor on wash day. He was handy with any motor.
 Lawrence first met Audrey at a square dance and had their first official date March 17, 1934, St. Patricks Day. He worked on farms in his early married life, also worked Defiance Dairy located Defiance, Ohio (1940-41) and came back to the farm in Putnam County. He then rented a farm in Van Wert County, March 1, 1948, a tornado came and cleaned him out. Lost barn, hog house, chicken coop and other buildings. He bought this place in 1965 and moved there May 6, 1966. he is now retired and his son Don farms the home place. his hobbies are wood working, fishing and gardening. Winters are spent in Florida basking in the sun.
