While in Fairfield Co. OH, Daniel served two tours in the War of 1812 with Great Britain. He was drafted near New Lancaster, OH serving under Captain Peter Huber at New Lancaster guarding prisoners taken by Commodore Perry. Also, Upper Sandusky under Jno Herrison. Reference: National Archives Record. Daniel was reared a farmer and migrated to Allen Co. OH about 1837 where he lived about one year. the family then came to Putnam Co. OH and leased land in Sugar Creek Twp., for ten years. He then bought an uncleared farm in same Twp., on which he lived until his death Feb. 8, 1857. He was a member of the Christian Church, and a Republican in politics, serving as a constable several years in Putnam Co. His wife Sarah died Feb. 10, 1869. Ref. Port. & Putnam Cos. Ohio.
