a. Note:   John was probably born in Stark Co. Ohio [even though his death certifiacate list Tuscarawas Co. as his birth place]. He lived with his parents in Carroll, Tuscarawas, and finally Putnam Co. even after his marriage on 22 Oct. 1852 to Margaret Molatt [aka Margaret Thomas and Margaret Anderson]. Margaret was the natural daughter of Anna Thomas, who with her parents Evan and Rachel Thomas, had come from Carmarthen, South Wales, ca 1833--first to Tuscarawas C. annd then to Putnam Co. prior to April 1843 when all members of the Thomas family appeared in Putnam Co. Court as witnesses in a criminal case. Apparently, Margaret's father was a Molatt of Tuscarawas or Coshocton Co. Margaret died 7 Nov 1871 of cancer an is buried in Hughes Cemetery.
 After Margaret's death, John married 2] Julia Wagoner on 12 Nov. 1873 an 3] Mrs. Rachel Schumaker on 28 Oct. 1884. John died 29 June 1902 and is buried in Hughes beside Margaret.
