 My grandfather, Oliver Frank VanHorn at one time worked in the roundhouse for the Pennsylvania railroad in Fort Wayne, Ind. Later he founded the Fort Wayne Mirror Works. This business at first was just replacing windows in automobiles.
  In 1921 a man from Germany was on his way to California when he ran out of money. He wanted to borrow money but instead he sold a formula to my grandfather for $35 on how to silver mirrors. At that time, $35 was a lot of money but turned out to be a good investment for him.
  This same business is now being run by my cousin, Warren Boitet, the son of Vernie Golda (VanHorn) and Clarence S. Boitet. The Boitets at one time lived at 801 Third St., and Warren also attended Franklin School. It seems our family had many chances to meet through the years.
  My grandmother often helped in the shops. We lived with my grandparents from the time I was born 'til their passing away.
