The southern half of the Harlingen Tract was occupied even earlier. The tombstone of Lambert Dorland, who died about 1720, is now gone, but a commemorative tablet marks the place on a farm north of Sunset Road.
Dorland's sons spread out over the southernmost tracts--Lots 11, 12, & 13. When the second-generation Lambert died in 1772, his prosperity had declined and his son John renounced his inheritence in order to pay his
father's creditors. At one time practically all of Lot 12 (which fell on both sides of Sunset Road) belonged to Garrit Dorland, but his neighbor on the east, Cornelius Ten Broeck later possessed it.
