 “In the Name of God Amen the twenty seccond Day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty two; I Jacob Probasco in the County of Somerset and province of New East Jersey, farmer being in good Helth in perfect Mind and Memory thanks be Given unto God therefore Calling unto Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is Appointed for all men once to Die Do Make and Ordain this My Last will and Testament that is to Say principally and first of all I Give [?] and Recommend My Soul into the hand of God that Gave it and for My Body I Recommend it to the earth to be Buried [?] in a Christian Like and Decent Manner of the Discretion of my Executors Nothing Doubting but at the General Resurrection I Shall Receive the Same again by the Mighty power of God and as Touching Such Worldly Estate ***** with it Hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life I Give Devise and Dispose of the Same in the Following manner [?] and form. Imprimis I order that all My just Debts and all my Funeral Expences be well and T******id [Truly Paid?] and Discharged out of my moveable[?] Estate [?]. Item [?] I give and bequeat first and foremost unto my two youngest Sons, John Probasco, and Hendrick Probasco, and to theier Heirs and Assigns forever, (being they have [?] Not Yet had Any Out Satt as the Rest of my Children have had) All my farmors Eutencels [farmer’s utensils?] I Now have upon My plantation whareon I Now Live, and all the Horsess and four Cows, and also a Bedstead with all the Bedding Belonging to it that is Both, Linnen and Woollen to be Equally Divided Amoungst them that is Sheare [?] an[d?], Sheare Alick, And Lickwise Give to Said two Sons that is Unto My Son John Probasco My Negroman Prei*** and Unto My Son Hendrick Probasco My Negroman Tom. Item I Give and bequeat Unto My five Sons, That is My Son Christopher Probasco, Jacob Probasco, Frederick Probasco, John Probasco and Hendrick Probasco, all my Lands and Tennements or all my Reale Estate; That is unto My Son Christopher Probasco to have the plantation whare he Now Lives on, in Middlebush which Did belong to the plantation I Now Dwell on it to be taken off in the Rear Square off one Hundred and Fifty Acres, (That is to Make) one Hundred and fifty Acres of Land together with what he has Bought of Me. Item I Give and bequeat unto My Son Jacob Probasco the Lott of Land whareon he now Dwells which Leys on the West Side of [?] Millstone River being part of a Lott of Land formerly [?] belonged to Steven Courten, Containing together with what he has bought of me, one Hundred and Ninety four Acres and to his Heirs and Assigns forever. Item I Give and bequeat unto my Son Frederick Probasco the Lott of Land whareon he Now Dwells which Leys in Amwell in Hunterdon County, Countaining together with what he has bought of Me Two Hundred and Sixty Acres and to his Heirs and Assigns forever. Item I Give and bequeat unto my two Youngest Sons John Probasco, and, Hendrick Probasco, the Remaining part of my a foresaid plantation Whareon I Dwell after the a foresaid one Hundred and fifty acres of Land be taken off for My Son Christopher Probasco to be unto him or to his heirs and Assigns forever. And the Remainder part to be unto my two Sons John, and Hendrick Probasco, to theier heirs and Assigns forever to be Equalley Devided Between them Sheare and Sheare a Lick. Item I Also order that My a foresaid five sons that is Christopher Probasco, Jacob Probasco, Frederick Probasco, John Probasco and Hendrick Probasco, Shall Allow out of the a foresaid my three Daughters that is, Deyna, wife of John Hogelandt and Ida wife of William Post and, Mary, wife of George ****ege [Berrege, (= Joris Bergen) from other sources] the Sum of three Hundred pounds Money [?] at Eight Shillings per [?] ounce to be paid to them by My Said five Sons Each of them one fifth part of Said three Hundred pounds which is Sixty pounds for Each of my Sons to pay to my Said Daughter out of the Said Land, and that to be paid in the following Manner to my Said Daughters, that is one Hundred pounds one Year after My Decease, and one Hundred pounds two Years after My Decease And one Hundred pounds three Years after My Decease, so that I Give My Said Sons three Years after my Decease, to pay the a foresaid three Hundred pounds to theier Sisters which is for Each Son Twenty pounds per Annim and that to be paid to my a foresaid Daughters that is Deyna, Ida, and Mary, or to theier Heirs Each one Hundred pounds. Item and the Remaining part of My Moveable Estate (Not herein before bequeted) to be Equall Devided a Mongst all My Children that is both Sons and Daughters Shear and Shear a Licke, after My Decease. And Lastly I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint My Loveing Sons Christopher Probasco, and John Probasco, and my Loveing Son In law John Hogelandt, to be My Executors of this My Last Will and Testament and Do Hereby Revoke Disannul and Make voyd all former Wills and Testaments by Me at any **** [time?] heretofore Made Declaring this only to be my Last Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I the Said Tester Jacob Probasco to this My Last will and Testament have Sett my hand and Seal the Day and Year first a bove Written.

  “Be it Remembered that on the twenty fifth day of November one thousand Seven hundred and fifty five – Before me Thomas Bartow duly authorized personally came John Smock & Tice Smock two of the within witnesses and being duly Sworn upon the Holy Evangelists do Depose that they were present and Saw Jacob Probasco Sign & Seal the within written Instrument & to the best of their Remembrince he d***d them [?] to Sign as Witnesses of his So doing but do not remember to have heard him declare it to be his Will though they understood & do believe they were Sent for being Neighbours o****** to be witnesses to the Same by the Said Testator he being then in Health *** of Sound mind & memory to the best of their Judgment & ** they [?] verily [?] believe [?] ****** that at the Same time John Brokaw was present & Signed as Witness [?] as did they also Sign as Witnesses in the Testator’s presence.   Be it Remembered that on the first day of December 1755 John Brokaw the other witness who wrote the will came before me and being duly Sworn dothe Depose that he was present and Saw Jacob Probasco the Testator within named Sign & Seal the written Will and heard him Publish pronounce & Declare the Same to be his last Will & Testament and that at the ******* of the P. Testator was in health & of Sound mind and memory to the best of the Deponents knowledge and as he verily believes and that at the Same time the other [?] Witnesses [?] abovementionid were present and Signed as witnesses as did he also then Sign ** [as?] a Witness in the Testator’s Presence.
