Notes
a. Note:   Lived in Honolulu for many years. He was there on the day of the Pearl Harbor attack. He described seeing shrapnel cutting the foliage of the palm trees.
We think he went to Hawaii after a divorce from his first wife. There is a daughter from this first marriage somewhere in the Bay area. His second wife was named Elisa. There were no children from this marriage.
Williard S. Bourne Is listed as a passenger on the Ventura, from Honolulu to San Francisco, US address Honolulu, arrival date 24 April 1930.
Jackson Van Polen visited with Willard and Elisa in their home near Honolulu while doing some testing for the Mare Island Naval Base. He remembers being shown the night blooming something or other on the wall at the girls' school, seeing the Banyon tree at City Hall (the Old Palace), and being sent in to a room to be surprized by the large stuffed tiger at the Elks Club. "If he had a gun he would have shot it."
Beverly Van Polen remembers Elisa bringing silk stockings to Napa during the war, something the girls had not seen.
