Notes
a. Note:   Charles William Rice, uncle to our Isaac Robert Rice, moved his family to Pea Ridge Arkansas in 1859, shortly after Isaac Robert drove across the plains to California.
The Civil War was a calamity to this family: a son joined the Confederate Forces, was shot, wounded and died while his father was harboring Federal troops in the basement of his home.
