Note: N2 An eminent figure of the political and economic life of Rotterdam. After having been in London, he settles in Chicago where he meets his future wife. The family lived in Goderich, Ontario, Canada, where Van Rossem dealt in the wood trade. He dies on February 6 1895 in Leysin-on-Eagle, in Switzerland, where he had gone for health reasons. His widow and her two sons, old one year and one year and half, go back then to Canada. A few months later, their mother leaves to settle in Pasadena in California.
