He farmed in Henry Co., till 1884: moved to Winfield and followed butchering until 1888: went into a general store and moved to Woolson, IND in 1890, engaged with the H L Spencer wholesale house of Oskaloosa but returned to butchering at Winfield in 1892. In 1898, he was elected Recorder of Henry Co and moved to Mt Pleasant: was probably elected in 1900. His wife Sarah is a Christian Scientist, but he is not a member of any church.
