Text:   John Henry (I633) Somewhere amongst the pieces of paper I have, I have that Dorothy Unknown (married to Thomas Wilson - 1707-1769) is a Dorothy Knight but I can't find the citation so I don't know if it is just a Dorothy Knight (from Thrumpton a fair way from Cumberland) who married a Thomas Wilson.JH
GGW>> I have done a Google search and have convinced myself that the Thrumpton marriage isn't our Thomas Wilson. From the "Nottinghamshire parish registers" Marriages at Thrumpton, 1679 to 1812
(Page)34 Nottinghamshire Parish Registers. [1712] [Thomas Wilson, clergyman, & Dorothy Knight ... 24 Apr 1728] I have seen Thomas's Tombstone in the Chancel of the Ireby Old Church and he is listed as a "Gent" not a reverend, none of his leases list him as a reverend. The confusion may be because there is another Thomas Wilson in the Area, at the nearby "Torpenhow Church" in fact, he was the rector there though he was absent as the Dean of Carlisle from 1764-1778. I have been able to find no evidence of any link between this Thomas Wilson and ours. "1743 Thomas Wilson, M.A., vicar of Torpenhow, and afterwards dean." "Thomas Wilson, D.D., after having been prebendary in this cathedral twenty-one years, was installed dean in 1764. He died September 25, 1778, and was interred in the south aisle of the cathedral."
In conclusion, I think it is proved that the Thrumpton people are not linked to the Ireby ones.

Notes
a. Note:   N6512 Monumental Inscription in the Chancel of Ireby Old Church.
Inside the Chancel against the east part of the south wall: In memory of Thos. Wilson of Ireby Gent. who died Oct. the 4th. 1769 aged 62 years.
Also John his son who died May 8th. 1772 aged 19 years. Also Dorothy the wife of Thos. Wilson who died March 22nd. 1794 aged 84 years.
Proof that this is the correct family is via the son John's name and age at death since we already had the name, John from the Carlisle records office as a probable brother to Joseph. We have nothing that shows all the names together at the same time. Oct 2009 ggw
