a. Note:   N1327 Lieutenant-General Sir James Wallace-Dunlop was the 5th. son and 3rd. surviving son of Sir John Dunlop of Dunlop and Frances Anna Wallace, daughter of Sir Thomas Wallace, 4th. Bt.; 20th. of Craigie and 25th. of Riccarton, and Eleanora Agnew of Lochryan, Wigtownshire. He was Laird of Dunlop 1804-1832.
  He was elected as Member of Parliament for Kirkcudbright, Scotland in 1812 and in two ensuing Parliaments. He served in the first American War in 1787 and proceeded to India as Captain of the 77th. Foot. He was severley wounded at the storming of Seringapatam, India. He was commander of an assaulting Division and attained the rank of Major-General in 1810. He was appointed to the command of a brigade in the 5th. Division of the Duke of Wellington‘s Army in the Peninsula War in Spain and served in the campaign of 1811. He was promoted to Lieutenant-General.
