 1850 census for Illinois (Schuyler County, Buena Vista Twp, p.381B) shows Alexander, age 33, wife Sarah, age 29, and six children, the oldest being 11 years. Birthplace given for Alexander as Iowa.
 1880 census for Missouri (Henry County, Deer Creek Twp, ED 176, p3) shows Alexander, age 65, and wife Sarah, age 59. Birthplace given as Kentucky four sons in the same county give birthplace of their father and mother as Indiana.
