Continued: From THE COMANCHE CHIEF (TX), August 19, 2010: VARGAS Frank Vargas, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Providence Healthcare Network in Waco, Texas.He was born on April 16, 1942, in Steelstore, Texas, to Patricio Vargas and Nolberta (Ugalde) Vargas. Frank retired from the United States Army, where he served as a Medic and Paratrooper. He was a POW in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Dionisia “Denise” and Venancio Sanchez, Jr. of Comanche; son, Albert Rodriguez of Comanche; sister, Felicitas Martinez of Dallas; five grandchildren; former wife, Alberta Judy Rodriguez of Comanche; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Mario Vargas, and two brothers, Ramon Vargas and Patricio Vargas.Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Herrera officiating and Alberta Rodriguez assisting. Burial followed in Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Comanche County, with Comanche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
