a. Note:   erve Volunteers at Sunbury, Butler Co., Pennsylvania. He was killed in the Battle of Gaines Mill on the Chickahominy River in Hanover County, Virginia during the Civil War, which was fought on 27 Jun 1862. Apparently he died three days later of his wounds.. His birth date has also been given as 7 May 1823.
