Notes
a. Note:   !1. Will of James Crow, Madison Co. VA Will Book 1, pg 139-141. Sarah and her son, Benjamin Thomas are among those purchasing items in the final settlement of James Crow's estate in 1813.
She is named in her father's will as Sarah Thomas.
Pedigree chart submitted by Effie Dunham gives her name as Elizabeth Grow or Crow. While Louisa did work for Elizabeth, the will of James Crow shows that Sarah married Reuben Thomas, and that her sister Elizabeth married Reuben Crigler. Age is based upon ages of brothers as determined from Revolutionary war pension applications.
The Madison marriage records show that Frances was the daughter of Reuben Thomas and also shows a Mary who was the daughter of Reuben and Sarah. Sarah is listed as fourth child in father's will -"fourteen pounds and twelve shillings to be deducted from her part." She may be the oldest child and seems to be the oldest daughter. Pedigree chart taken from records of Louisa Hurt states she died about 1825
