  The Early Hurt Family of VA, Oscar Hurt, 1958, FHL# 854152-4 pgs. 15-16. Author thought him to be the grandfather of Garland Hurt (d. 1818), John Hurt (1766-1853) William O. Hurt (d. 1819) and George Hurt all brothers of Bedford Co.,VA who were born in Caroline Co. in the 1760's.
  12 Nov 1762, Caroline County, Virginia, John Hurt Jr. failed to appear as witness - fined 350 pounds of tobacco. Court Order Book 1759-1763, pg. 381
  15 Jun 1765, John Hurt, Sr. (constable, now aged) and John Hurt, Jr. of Caroline County, Virginia appeared at court. See Court Order Book 1765-1767, pg. 93, 210.
