a. Note:   Other records show his name as Arthur Steven. He has a son named Ira L., and "Ira" is found in more record references than Arthur.
 Family records located so far only list sons, but there were probably more children born between 1842 and 1855.
  The 1880 Census for Ludington, Eau Claire, Wisconsin FHL film # 1255425, NA film # T9-1425, pg. 447C lists him as "Stepen B. Grandy", farmer, age 57, born in Canada. His father's place of birth is given as Vermont, and he didn't recall or state where his mother was born.
