  !NOTE: In the 1920's U S Census in Christy, Maricopa County, Arizona; Sheet 9A, Line 38; there is a Martin L. Edwards born at the right time in Arkansas living on a farm as a partner of the farm. some of his sister's family retired in Maricopa County, AZ. So this might be him. Must check into this before I can really say it is him.
  !OBIT: Lafayette Edwards; Watsonville Register-Pajaronian; Monday March 15, 1976: Lafayette Edwards, 86, died yesterday afternoon at his home at 48 Minto Road. A native of Arkansas, he was a retired carpenter and had lived in the Watsonville area for the past 42 years. He leaves his wife, Margaret, of Watsonville; a son, Marcus Edwards of Vallejo; a daughter, Mrs. Willie Mae Myary of Carmel Valley; a brother, Dan Edwards of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending at White’s Memorial Chapel. March 16, 1976 Funeral notice: The funeral of Lafayette Edwards will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Healey Mortuary in Salinas. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories in Salinas. White’s Memorial Chapel is in charge of local arrangements. Note: Salinas is in Monterey County.

Margaret would have been a more reliable source, but she was very upset at the time because Fate died at home in his chair. He had gone out to do some grafting on the fruit trees and when he came back in the house, he told Margaret that he was a little tired and was going to take a nap. He never woke up. Since he died at home, the coroner's office had to be called and they took forever to get there. So, Margaret had to sit alone with her dead husband's body for several hours. I think it took a greater toll on her then most realized. She talked about being alone with Fate's body for several years afterwards. All the best, Fran
